Quarterback Joe Flacco is apparently thrilled with the Ravens new draft class especially his newest wide receiver. After months of telling people that the team was happy with the current group of receivers the team pulled the ultimate draft smoke screen and drafted two receivers and two tight ends. Here’s what quarterback Joe Flacco had to say about the team’s first round pick Breshad Perriman.
“I’m happy with Breshad,” Flacco said, per the team’s official website. “He looks really good. He looks big, powerful, runs well.”
Perriman will do his best to replace the departed Torrey Smith. After running a 4.24 at the Central Florida pro day Breshad will look to become the Ravens new deep threat. At 6’2″ Perriman can become the perfect fit for a new offense run by offensive coordinator Marc Trestman. There were a number of question marks about his hands leading up to the draft, but so far so good according to Flacco.
“His hands look like they’re really good. He looks like he has big, strong hands,” Flacco said. “He snatches the ball out of the air.”
Baltimore also added tight end Maxx Williams in round two adding another weapon to the offense. After years of drafting for the defensive side of the ball Flacco reassured his faith in Ozzie Newsome and company.
“You never know what’s going to happen on draft day, and who is going to be picked where, and what the circumstances are going to be when your pick comes up,” Flacco said. “I have total trust in [the personnel staff]. They’re the ones doing the work. They’re the ones looking at the guys, watching film and working them out.”
