Known as a sharpshooter capable of providing a spark off the bench, Meeks has been forced to cope with various injuries in recent seasons with Detroit and Orlando.
Meeks played in just 36 games with the Magic last season, averaging 9.1 points on 41 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Washington sported one of the league’s worst benches this past season. They’ve been working to make some upgrades since free agency began on July 1.
“We need to help our bench,” John Wall said in May. “That was our downfall in each series that we had. Our bench got outplayed.”
Meeks is a proven veteran who can help solve some of the Wizards’ bench issues, provided that he’s able to stay healthy during the season.
The Wizards will sign him using their bi-annual exception, a salary cap based exception that can be used every two seasons.
