Turning back the hands of time, Jim Jones is partnering with eOne to relaunch ByrdGang Records this year. In addition, the New York native announced that a new album could arrive as early as the fall.
“In my career, I’ve had some amazing experiences throughout my career because someone believed in me – me and my crew,” Jim Jones said in a statement.
“With this next iteration on ByrdGang, I’m very excited to be giving other artists the same chance that someone gave me.”
This is a full-circle moment for the New York artist. Previously, Jim Jones released Pray IV Reign, The Rooftop and Capo with eOne. Ten years later, he has a chance to take things to a new level with an old group of friends.
“eOne helped launch Jim’s solo career, and I’m thrilled to be working with Jim again. He has a remarkable gift for A&R, and I look forward to showcasing new talent together,” Alan Grunblatt of eOne said.
To celebrate the announcement, Jim Jones and company held a private party at The Cutting Room Studios. While there, he took some time to talk about his inspiration for returning to eOne.
“It wasn’t something that was really on my list but because of the history of it and how dear it is to my heart, most of the counterparts that was involved in it from the original iteration are not here anymore, they locked up or things like that,” he told HipHopDX.
“But my circle was adamant about us needing to kind of like get back on that ByrdGang sh*t, and we here now.”
Under this new global deal, ByrdGang will release several projects in the next few years, prominently featuring Jones while introducing the next wave of new artists.
