While most new music drops on Fridays nowadays, things go a little bit differently at Dreamville. Fresh off of a new single featuring J. Cole, J.I.D is back with his highly anticipated project, DiCaprio 2. The new project from the Atlanta native is a follow-up to his 2017 effort, The Never Story, which featured Earth Gang and 6lack. The newest project from the Atlanta rapper features A$AP Ferg, J. Cole, Ella Mai, BJ The Chicago Kid, Joey Bada$$ and Method Man. The project also features previously released singles, “Off Deez” and “151 Rum”.
When asked about the inspiration behind the new project, J.I.D said, “I just want to keep elevating and if it ever comes to a stop I will just figure it out. Right now, I’m just trying to reach each stepping stone.” J.I.D also told fans that Leonardo DiCaprio is going to tap into his new project as well. J.I.D stated, “He hasn’t heard it but he said he’s going to listen to it.” The only downside of this new project is that J.I.D didn’t get everyone he wanted on it. In a recent interview, J.I.D let the world know that he originally wanted Kendrick Lamar on the J. Cole assisted single, “Off Deez”. While it’s unfortunate that Kendrick didn’t make it in time for the project’s release, it’s a great project nonetheless. Check out DiCaprio 2 above and let us know what you think.
