Tonight was the night that it all went down at the 2018 Soul Train Awards. Hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell, the ladies led the way as the musical contributions of the past year by some of our favorite artists were celebrated. For some, the best moment of the night came with the Soul Cypher.
Among all the awards and performances of the evening, a surprise and special moment took place. The likes of BJ The Chicago Kid, Queen Naija, Erykah Badu, Luke James, and Kelly Price shut things down with their Soul Cypher. A spin on Hip-Hop cyphers that rappers take part in to showcase their skills, the singers put an R&B twist on it all.
Showcasing their vocal pipes and individual talents, the acts locked viewers in for nearly 6 minutes of soulful sounds and passion. Packed with vocal acrobatics and pleasantries to the ear, we want more! As a bigger musical bonus, Thundercat and Robert Glasper held everything down with instrumentation.
