The Syracuse Orange will be without big man Jesse Edwards for the rest of the season after he suffered a fractured left wrist against Boston College on Tuesday night. This is a significant loss for an Orange team that is in the middle of the pack in a down ACC. He was only one of five players for the Orange that averaged double digits. With him out more responsibility will likely fall to back up big man Frank Anselem.

Jesse Edwards did not get much time on the court in his first two seasons, but that all changed this year. He was averaging 12 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game this year for the Orange. The problem for the Orange now is that Frank Anselem is their sixth-leading scorer, but he doesn’t play much and only averages 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore. A concern for Orange is he may not be ready for an increased role.
The Syracuse Orange aren’t exactly on the bubble and would need a lot of work and luck to make the 2022 NCAA Tournament. They are currently 13-11 with an ACC record of 7-6 which is good enough for 7th in the ACC. Losing Jesse Edwards could end any hope for a late-season run to make the 2022 NCAA Tournament. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Edwards a swift and healthy recovery to the court for his senior season next year.
