Former WBC Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo is reportedly eyeing a return to the ring.
The Houston, Texas native is expected to fight in his hometown on Saturday, December 14, but an opponent hasn’t been named yet. Thomas LaManna, according to The Ring, has emerged as the most likely opponent for Charlo. The 32-year-old based in New Jersey has won of 10 of his last 11 fights and holds a professional record of 38-5-1 with 17 knockouts. Most recently, LaManna stopped Juan Carlos Abreu in the third round of a 12-round bout set in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Former middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade has also been mentioned as potential opponent for Charlo. At 36 years old, Andrade has a professional record of 32-1 with 19 knockouts. However, he suffered the first loss of his professional career last November when David Benavidez stopped him in the sixth round. Since then, the Rhode Island native has remained inactive.
Charlo’s return will be featured in an event headlined by Gervonta “Tank” Davis. The Baltimore, Maryland native will put the WBA Lightweight Championship on the line against Washington, D.C. native Lamont Roach in Houston, Texas. The event will also feature a rematch between Stephen Fulton Jr. and Brandon Figueroa.
