Atkinson was the assistant coach under Mike D’Antoni when Lin played with the New York Knicks, and enjoyed “Linsanity.”
Lin spoke about Atkinson and much, much more (including his hair) on The Vertical Podcast with J.J. Redick. Here are Lin’s words on Atkinson, as transcribed via Tweet by Anthony Puccio of Nets Daily:

Last season, Lin served as backup point guard for the Charlotte Hornets, where he averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per ame, while shooting 41.2% from the field, 33.6% beyond the arc, and 81.5% from the foul line.
