It has been a long time coming! After more than a decade of hard work, perseverance and consistency, Jazmine Sullivan has locked up “Best R&B Album” at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Sullivan’s career-defining body of work, Heaux Tales, has edged out a number of memorable albums from the last year, including Back Of My Mind by H.E.R and Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies by Snoop Aalegra.
“Best R&B Album” is not the only category that Jazmine Sullivan has emerged victorious in. Earlier this evening, she also won “Best R&B Performance” for her work on “Pick Up Your Feelings.” Much like the “Best R&B Album” category, Sullivan faced stiff competition in this race as well. “Damage” by H.E.R, “Peaches” by Justin Bieber and “Lost You” by Snoh Aalegra were also nominated for “Best R&B Performance” at this year’s Grammy Awards.
The night is not over just yet. Trevor Noah and The Recording Academy still have to give out the night’s biggest award, “Album of the Year.”
