Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church dazzled the nation with their performance of the national anthem arranged by Adam Blackstone. The duo performed at Raymond James Stadium after only meeting for the first time last month. During a recent interview, Church remarked on hearing Sullivan singing for the first time and being floored by her vocal abilities.
“She may be the best singer I have [laughs] — I was floored,” Church told Kelleigh Bannen on Today’s Country Radio.
“The best thing about this — no matter what happens, because that’s a nervy thing that we got to do — I’m a fan.”
Adding on, Church noted that he was unsure about performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl LV initially. The country music star noted that he wasn’t sure his voice would fit the national anthem, but Adam Blackstone was able to talk him into it.
“I thought, ‘That’s cool; that sounds like me,’ and then I heard her, and I’m not missing a chance to sing with her,” he said about the first time he heard Blackstone’s arrangement.
“And that was it. Once I heard her voice, I said, ‘Okay, I’m in.'”
It appears that Church made the correct decision. Check out their joint performance below.
