Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams will miss the remainder of the 2022 NFL season after he suffered a torn ACL and LCL. The injury happened in the team’s Week Four loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. It was immediately feared that the young talented running back would be lost for the season. An MRI on Monday confirmed the team’s fears. With Williams out for the season, veteran running back Melvin Gordon will slide into the starting role for the team. A position he has held for the team in the past.

This was his second season with the Denver Broncos. So far this season, Javonte Williams rushed the ball 47 times for 204 yards and zero touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes for 76 yards and zero touchdowns. The entire Denver Broncos offense had struggled to start the season and Williams was not immune to those problems. Running back Melvin Gordon has also struggled this season and at 2-2, the Denver Broncos can not afford this injury.
With Broncos’ RB Javonte Williams now out for the season, Denver will have to rely more on Melvin Gordon, who has fumbled five times in his past 44 carries over five games; Sunday marked the third time a Gordon fumble has been returned for a touchdown in Denver’s past 12 games.
