Jason Williams and Mike Bibby’s basketball careers will meet at yet another strange crossroads. Starting in the early 2000’s, they were two of the most talented point guards in the NBA at the time. Oddly enough, the two were traded for each other in a 2001 deal that saw Bibby head to the Sacramento Kings and Williams went to the Vancouver (now Memphis) Grizzlies. While their careers didn’t end up as decorated like some of their peers in Jason Kidd, Steve Nash or even Allen Iverson these two guards are still remembered for their style of play on the court.
Now, the guards who careers were closely intertwined through out the 2000’s will finally get to do something they never did. Play together and they will do that as members of ‘Pedro’s Posse’ during the 2016 version of ‘The Basketball Tournament’.
The team has two big name boosters in current NBA players Courtney Lee and Chandler Parsons and with the combination of Bibby and Williams, teams will certainly have to make sure their ankles get heavily taped during pregame.
While Bibby has not really been seen in a competitive basketball setting since he retired in 2012, its been Jason Williams that hasn’t stopped playing whenever he gets a chance. Williams famously said during a game ‘I Ain’t Travel since I was Six” and he’s been crossing up guys in different adult leagues since stepping away from the NBA in 2011.
