Antoine Fuqua’s Infinite is very quickly becoming one of the most interesting movies of next year. At first, it was rumored Chris Evans would star but that role was shortly thereafter taken by Mark Wahlberg. It was announced earlier this week though that Chiwetel Ejiofor was set to star opposite Wahlberg as the villain. Now, according to Deadline, The League‘s Jason Mantzoukas and Homeland‘s Rupert Friend are joining the film.
Based on D. Eric Maikranz’ novel The Reincarnationist Papers, Infinite follows a group of immortal humans reincarnated across time. However, upon each reincarnation, they retain the memories of every past life they’ve lived. The film will follow Wahlberg, a Schizophrenic who discovers that his vivid dreams and hallucinations are actually memories from past lives. Before long, it’s up to him to stop Ejiofor’s villainous scheme to rid the world of the infinite humans. It’s unclear who Mantzoukas and Friend will be portraying.
Fuqua is set to direct based off a script written by Ian Shoor. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Mark Huffam, Stephen Levinson, John Zaozirny, and Wahlberg are attached as producers. Fuqua is executive producing alongside Raphael Crohn.
Infinite is set to hit theaters on August 7th, 2020.
