Chiwetel Ejiofor must really like playing the villain. He played the villainous Scar in this summer’s Disney hit, The Lion King. He’s also set to appear alongside Angelina Jolie in next month’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil as Conall, a dark fairy.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s adding another baddie to his resume. Ejiofor has reportedly signed on to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming action-thriller, Infinite.
The film, set to be directed by Antoine Fuqua, is an adaptation of D. Eric Maikranz’ 2009 novel The Reincarnationist Papers. In the novel, a race of immortal men and women (the Infinite) are reincarnated across time with full memories of their past lives.
Ejiofor is set to play an Infinite who has discovered how to take away immortality and plans to use it on his own people. Wahlberg will portray a schizophrenic who is unknowingly a member of the Infinite. His vivid dreams are all revealed to be memories of his past lives and he must use that knowledge to stop Ejiofor’s character.
Infinite is set to hit theaters on August 7th, 2020.
