Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars have landed the commitment of 2022 top 15 recruit and number one Power Forward Jarace Walker. The top-rated power forward is the highest-rated recruit in the modern era to commit to the Houston Cougars. He is just the second five-star to do so, joining NBA forward Danuel House. Walker committed to the Houston Cougars over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers. The talented 2022 power forward has some serious “one and done” potential and may declare for the 2023 NBA Draft.
Five-star Jarace Walker has committed to Houston, giving the Cougars a program record 3 ESPN 100 commits & first 5-star recruit since Danuel House in 2012. Houston was involved early for Walker, had him on campus in June, and has been the leader since the summer. Impressive job.

Houston now has its best recruiting class in program history, coming in at 11th nationally.

Head Coach Kelvin Sampson has turned the Houston Cougars into a top-level NCAA basketball program without any five-star recruits. Adding talent at the level of Jarace Walker could bring even more success to Sampson and his program. If he can get Walker to the NBA in one year it will be a warning shot across the NCAA that Houston is a place for “one and done” talent. The Cougars may even win an NCAA Championship one day if they keep up their recent success.

The Houston Cougars’ program is no stranger to success or having NBA talent. Walker hopes to join a rich program and history on his way to the NBA. He may only be there for a year, but this is a massive commitment for Houston.
