The Philadelphia 76ers were involved in a deal that saw them acquire Joel Anthony from the Detroit Pistons by way of the Houston Rockets. In order to bring in Anthony, the Sixers had to drop a player from their current roster and the odd man out was JaKarr Sampson.
Just a few days later and neither Anthony or Sampson are on the Sixers roster. Philly was interested in bringing back Sampson after they waived Anthony but he elected to join the Denver Nuggets on a two-year deal.
Following from Shams Charania of The Vertical on Yahoo! Sports.
After being waived by the Philadelphia 76ers, forward JaKarr Sampson is finalizing a two-year contract with the Denver Nuggets, Sampson’s agent, Seth Cohen, confirmed to The Vertical.
The 76ers released Sampson to create roster space for the acquisition of Joel Anthony, yet the franchise had held out hope of re-signing Sampson. Sampson’s deal with Denver will be non-guaranteed in the second year.
Sampson is a high-energy wingman who will fit with the young Nuggets that like to play up and down. He can catch some lobs, play solid defense and get some time whenever Will Barton, Gary Harris or Danilo Gallinari need a rest.
