Jada Pinkett Smith hopes to finally “get some answers” nearly 30 years after the death of her close friend and legendary musician, Tupac Shakur. On Friday, September 29, the Las Vegas Department arrested Duane “Keefe D” Davis and charged in connection to the 25-year-old hitmaker’s death.
“Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure,” Smith wrote on Instagram after learning of the arrest.
“R.I.P. Pac.”
Shakur was shot on September 7, 1996 in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada following a heavyweight title fight. Days later, the entertainer was pronounced dead at 25 years old. Davis has not been identified as the gunman, but he’s been described as the leader of a group of four men allegedly responsible for the murder.
“Duane Davis was the shot caller for this group of individuals that committed this crime,” Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Police Department said.
“He orchestrated the plan that was carried out.”
Davis, charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon, is expected to appear in court next week. At this time, he has not issued a statement regarding the matter.
