Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and Ante Zizic were introduced as Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. Predictably, reporters were eager to ask Thomas about his hip injury. Cavs GM Koby Altman didn’t want that subject to be the focus of the press conference, though:

Thomas will not have surgery, Altman and Thomas confirm:
Altman on IT: "Our plan is a non-surgical plan."
Isaiah Thomas: "Y'all hear that? Everybody wants to be doctors now."

Thus far, there is no timetable for Thomas’ return:
Koby: "To be fair to Isaiah, we're not going to address any specifics on his hip injury. We're also not going to put a timetable on it"

Before the trade, the Celtics’ plan was also one that didn’t include surgery.
Thomas, Crowder, Zizic and two draft picks were sent to Cleveland as compensation for star point guard Kyrie Irving.
Irving and new Celtics acquisition Gordon Hayward were introduced in Boston last week.
Thomas penned an emotional piece for The Players Tribune on Wednesday in which he thanked Boston and detailed how he felt about the trade.
