Actor Isaiah Stokes has been indicted by a grand jury following a fatal shooting that took place in Queens, New York in February. As a result, the accomplished actor will facing the following charges: second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
“The defendant is accused of unloading nearly eleven shots during this brazen afternoon shooting,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.
“Gun violence is all too prevalent in our neighborhoods. We will not allow it to become the norm.”
The incident in question took place on February 7, 2021. According to video provided by the prosecution, Stokes allegedly got out of a car near Linden Boulevard and 200th Street in Queens and fired 11 shots at a man named Tyrone Jones. The 37-year-old man was pronounced dead by medical responders upon arrival and Stokes was arrested shortly thereafter. Thus far, prosecutors have not provided a clear motive for the shooting.
Stokes is an accomplished actor who has starred in several series including Law & Order, Power and The Americans. He also appeared alongside Cam’ron in the classic “Killa Season” video.
Stokes, who faces up to 25 years in prison, will appear in court again on Friday.
