Idris Elba has subtly announced that he will star as Knuckles in the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog sequel. Elba shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon and pandemonium ensued.
“Knock, knock,” he tweeted as he included a picture of Knuckles’ fist.
Elba is a world-renowned star best known for his roles in Luther, The Wire and The Office. He recently starred in Concrete Cowboy and is set to return for the upcoming film, The Harder They Fall.
Elba joins a talented cast that already includes Jim Carey, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, James Marsden, Ben Schwartz and Adam Pally. Jeff Fowler is set to direct the sequel after the original pulled in $320 million worldwide. Joining Fowler, Pat Casey, Josh Miller and John Whittington will write a script inspired by the popular Sega Genesis video game of the early 2000s. Rounding out the team, Haruki Satomi, Nan Morales, Tim Miller, Yukio Sugino and Shuji Utsumi will work as executive producers.
