The Red Sox being in first place five games ahead of the New York Yankees wanted to bolster down their lineup and get insurance for Dustin Pedroia as they are worried about the condition of Pedroia. The Red Sox lineup is producing very well with Mookie Betts having a historic season and free agent signee J.D. Martinez putting up great numbers so far in 2018 and adding Kinsler will only be a bonus.
So far in 2018, Kinsler has posted a slash line of .239/.304/.406 for the Angels. Kinsler has also hit 13 home runs and had 32 RBI’s throughout 355 at-bats. Kinsler is having a good year for the Angels and has adjusted well to his new home after spending the last few years with the Tigers. He will look to make a good impact in the Boston Red Sox’s lineup.
The two prospects that the Angels acquired have spent this year in Triple-A Pawtucket. Buttrey has appeared in 32 games and has an ERA of 2.25 and a WHIP of 1.14 while striking out 64 batters in 44 innings pitched in 2018. Jerez has appeared 33 games and has an ERA of 3.68 and a 1.38 while striking out 67 batters in 51 innings pitched in 2018.
