For some time now, Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson have been training within Terence Crawford’s camp. However, their time together has not lessened the bad blood or evaporated the competition between them. Leading up to Saturday’s showdown, Stevenson has not hesitated to throw jabs at Herring and question his ability.
“Make sure you bring my belt,” the challenger told Herring during a recent press conference.
Despite the onslaught of words coming from Stevenson, Herring appears to be confident and focused on the challenge ahead.
“I’ve seen Shakur be worse. I’ve seen him at worse,” Herring told ESPN.
“At times, I said he’s just building the fight, this is boxing chatter. At the end of the day, we both got to go in the ring and fight. I honestly think this is the biggest fight in the division, with everything going on.”
On October 23, the “biggest fight in the division” will go down. The winner will likely go on to fight Oscar Valdez in order to become the division’s undisputed champion.
