The Green Bay Packers figure to be contenders for as long as they have Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay made the playoffs last year as a wildcard going 1-1 in postseason play. What can we expect from the Pack in 2016?
Wide Receiver: It’s a never ending list…..
One thing is for sure, other teams will watch to see how Green Bay cuts because they have a ton of talented options. Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, DeVante Adams, Jeff Janis, Ty Montgomery, Trevor Davis, Geronimo Allison, and Jared Abbrederis. NFL teams figure to only keep 5-6 wide outs a year.
Inside Linebacker: Blake Martinez vs. Sam Barrington vs. Kyler Fackrell vs. Jake Ryan
Clay Mathews is moving back to outside linebacker which means two spots are wide open for this four man competition. Barrington and Ryan are the vets who have played well in stretches in the past. Martinez and Fackrell are both rookies but I tend to think Martinez has a chance of stealing a spot as I viewed him as a better prospect despite being picked later.
Defensive End: Kenny Clark vs. Datone Jones
Both players were drafted very highly from UCLA. Jones is older and thus far has failed to perform like a former first round pick. Clark is the 2016 first rounder and will get playing time regardless of whether he wins the starting gig.
Ready To Breakout: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
Clinton-Dix is entering his 3rd year and is poised to become one of the best safeties in the NFL. Ha Ha showed flashes of brilliance in the postseason coming away with two interceptions. Clinton-Dix is coming off of a 100 total tackle season despite the fact that Green Bay carries a ton of defensive backs.
Fantasy Sleeper: James Starks
Sure Eddie Lacy is the starter but James Starks is a proven back up capable of having good games if Lacy misses some time. Then again based off of the 2015 season I’m not so sure Starks is even worse than Lacy.
Rookie To Watch: Jason Spriggs
Spriggs will serve as the swing tackle who will see his opportunity come sooner or later. He reminds me of Lane Johnson from the Eagles and come become a difference maker at right tackle.
Green Bay will challenge Minnesota for an NFC North Crown this season. I am just not sure if their roster is good enough to contend for a title.
