Summer is here and festival season is set to kick off in the northeast. Governors Ball has announced that Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, J Balvin and Post Malone will headline this year’s Governors Ball. Joining the four headliners, Megan Thee Stallion, Burna Boy, Young Thug, Smino, Aminé, DaBaby, Future and 21 Savage are set to perform. Not to mention, Kota The Friend and Princess Nokia will represent the state of New York at the summer event.
Governors Ball is the first major festival to return to the New York area since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the country last spring. Rolling Loud, Hot 97’s Summer Jam and AfroPunk have yet to return to the area.
Officials in the state of New York are planning to ease restrictions on May 19. Ultimately, New York City hopes to be fully open by July 1.
“This is going to be the summer of New York City,” New York Mayor Bill de Blasion told MSNBC.
“You’re going to see amazing activities, cultural activities coming back. I think people are going to flock to New York City, because they want to live again.”
If things go according to schedule, Governors Ball should be able to move forward without a hitch on September 23. Tickets will be available beginning May 6 at 12 p.m.
