Things are heating up in the NBA world as the trade deadline approaches. The Portland Trail Blazers were among the first batch of teams getting their hands dirty with a trade sending Mason Plumlee to the Nuggets for Jusuf Nurkic and a draft pick.
But the Blazers may not be done quite yet and general manager Neil Olshey is making that well known:

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The Blazers spent a lot of money during the offseason to mostly bring back the same roster as last season and it hasn’t worked out. They are currently on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture.
Trading Plumlee seemed to signify a change in direction as the center was set to be a well-paid free agent this summer. It also gave the Blazers another first round pick, giving them three in this year’s seemingly loaded draft. Those picks could theoretically be used as sweeteners in trading away bad contracts.
The Blazers still have some assets as well if they want to retool their roster rather than freeing up cap space.
Neil Olshey will be very busy in the next ten days.
