If there was any doubt that Giveon was a star, it was put to rest this week. In a matter of hours, the Californian native would out every date on his 2021 winter tour. Celebrating his recent accomplishment, he has dropped off his newest single, “For Tonight.
Backed by piano-heavy production from Akeel, Jahaan Sweet and Sevn Thomas, “For Tonight” is a slow tempo track that allows Giveon to show off his vocal range.
“We’ve been done long before it all begun/Still can’t give it up/Lead me on but leave before the morning comes/Even though it’s what we want, can’t keep this up for long,” he sings.
“For tonight, I’m yours/So deny the truth/We’ll stay behind closed doors/’Cause all I wanna do is lie with you.”
Differing from tracks like “Favorite Mistake” and “Still Your Best,” “For Tonight” shows Giveon in a more vulnerable and emotional light. As he prepares to release his next project, the Long Beach may get into this bag a bit more often. Who knows?
