Head Coach Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have landed the commitment of 2023 top-five recruit and top-three power forward GG Jackson. He committed to the Tar Heels over the Duke Blue Devils, South Carolina Gamecocks, Auburn Tigers, and NBA G League Ignite team. Jackson is a top talent and likely “one and done” talent. He could likely be the first to do so in the Hubert Davis era of the North Carolina Tar Heels. The South Carolina native will move up one state to play college basketball.
2023 five-star GG Jackson has committed to North Carolina, he tells @On3Recruits.
“Talking with coach Hubert Davis about the new playing style that they have at UNC, I saw that I would fit perfectly.”

GG Jackson is ranked fifth on the 2023 composite rankings list and some individual lists have him as the number one overall recruit in the class. He is the second five-star in the class to commit to Head Coach Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Jackson joins 2023 top 15 recruit and top three combo guard Simeon Wilcher as the two recruits currently committed to North Carolina in the 2023 class.
GG Jackson reiterated to me over the weekend he doesn’t plan on reclassifying into 2022: “Weighing over my options and looking at the different people that reclassed up, seeing how it affected them — I feel like, physically, I’m not there yet to play at that college level.”

GG Jackson and Simeon Wilcher will both be likely “one and done” prospects and Jackson will have his eye on the number one selection in the 2024 NBA Draft. A dynamic duo is headed to Chapel Hill and Hubert Davis is likely not done recruiting in the 2023 class.
