After seven seasons on HBO, Game of Thrones will launch its final season this Sunday. Leading up to this season’s premiere, fans have created rumors, HBO has released teasers and the hype surrounding the series could not be higher. Last week, HBO took to New York to hold its season premiere event and the only thing left is the worldwide premiere on Sunday.
While we wait for the premiere of season eight, George R.R. Martin commented on the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. He said, “I don’t think it should be the final season. But here we are.” He later added, “I know it’s an end, but it’s not much of an end for me.”
While it may not be an end, Martin is already hard at work on the show’s prequel series that is set to be in development at HBO. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “It hasn’t started shooting yet, but they’re getting very close to that. They have a great director and an amazing cast.” However, Martin is not involved in the new series as he was in the original.
He noted, “It’s different. It’s definitely very different. It’s set thousands of years in the past. You’re looking at a whole different era of Westeros.” The prequel is still far away from airing, but you can catch the eighth season premiere on Sunday on HBO.
