It’s not often that a rising artist is introduced to the world alongside Rick Ross, John Legend, Lil’ Wayne, DJ Khaled and Jay-Z. However, that is a reality for Fridayy. One month ago, the emerging artist appeared alongside a slew of legends on “God Did.” While many focused of Jay-Z’s showstopping verse, Fridayy made his presence felt on the hook.
“They wanted us down/But look at us now, oh/They counted us out/They didn’t think that we would make it/They didn’t believe in us,” he sang as Rick Ross added ad-libs.
“But I know God did, God did.”
Fridayy is not one to shrink in the spotlight. Prepared for the platform that a DJ Khaled placement provides, he has new music ready to go. This week, he has delivered a new, soulful track called “Don’t Give Up On Me.” Building upon the skills he showcased throughout the “God Did” hook, Fridayy sings every word of the new track like he’s standing before a church congregation on Sunday. Every note and lyric is delivered with attention and arrives in a deeply moving manner.
“Hold me down through the night. We could make it out alive. I know the road seems scary and I see your vision is getting blurry, but please don’t give up on me,” Fridayy sings as he pleads with his significant other to stay as he takes this next step in his life.
“Don’t Give Up On Me” sets the stage for Fridayy’s forthcoming EP. While we wait for the full project to arrive, check out his new single below.
