The Orlando Magic have been on the hunt for a Head Coach since Scott Skiles quit last week unexpectedly, and it looks like that Coach will be Frank Vogel. Many were rumoured to have interviewed for the position, including Adrian Griffin, Patrick Ewing and many other established assistant coaches and former coaches in the league.
According to Joshua B. Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Vogel has moved much closer then any coach to becoming the Magic Head Coach:
All indications are the Orlando Magic will have contract talks with Frank Vogel today.

Frank Vogel already met with the DeVos family this week. That’s always a necessary precursor to putting a deal in place.

After Jeff Hornacek was hired in New York, it left Vogel, who was assumed to be the top candidate for the Knicks, on the back burner, but hopefully he has now found a home in Orlando. This young Orlando roster has the potential to become something of a threat in the Eastern Conference with their backcourt of Victor Oladipo and Elfrid Payton leading the way with Center Nikola Vucevic manning the middle. Vogel had already established himself as the Memphis Grizzlies top choice, but that has quitted down since the Orlando Magic joined the bidding war. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Magic are looking forward to securing Vogel as the future Head Coach of the Magic:
Sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that the Magic believe they have emerged as Vogel’s preferred destination and are positioned to quickly complete a deal with him if their coaching search continues to progress in its current direction.
Sources say Magic management, fond as it is of Griffin, is drawn to Vogel’s impressive résumé and enticed by the idea of moving on from Skiles’ abrupt exit with the opportunity to hire an established coach.
With Vogel almost a shoe-in to become the Magic Head Coach, that takes another team and another sought out coach out of the hectic Head Coaching market right now. With Houston and Memphis still looking for coaches for their team, and choices abundant, how will it transpire?
