
Tragic news out of the basketball world with the announcement that former Michigan State Spartans standout forward Adreian Payne has passed away at the age of 31 years old. He played with the Michigan State Spartans from 2010 to 2014 and then went on to be selected 15th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. In his NBA career, he also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic. Payne spent most of his professional basketball career playing overseas.

Adreian Payne will be remembered as a great college basketball player, but more importantly as a friend and family member to those close to him. Tributes from teammates, opponents, analysts, and fans were quick to pour in after the tragic news was announced. The official cause of death has not yet been announced for the 31-year-old.

In his basketball career, Payne was a two-time second-team All-Big Ten player, a Greek Basketball Cup winner, a Greek league champion, a French Cup winner, and a Pro A Champion. His decorated career with both Michigan State and in the EuroLeague will be how he is best remembered on the basketball court. This tragic news struck the heart of the college basketball world on Monday morning and is a good reminder to cherish those around you when you can.
