On Monday, January 20, 2025, William “Flavor Flav” Drayton Jr. partnered with GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition to support Black families in Los Angeles County displaced by wildfires surging throughout the area.
“So many of y’all have helped in the aftermath of the [Los Angeles County] fires. So many of y’all have received help, but there [are] so many more that really need your help. It’s been inspiring to see so many people come together as one to lift each other up and I just want to highlight one spect of the larger [Los Angeles] community in dire need,” Flavor Flav wrote.
“Not enough is being done for the Black families and community [members] in the aftermath of the California fires. I’ve partnered up with GoFundMe and the Black Music Coalition to create [a] main GoFundMe campaign to immediately help those in need. I urge not only Black artists, musicians and creators, but [also] everyone [else] to come together and continue to help those still in desperate need.”
Flavor Flav, GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition set out with a goal to raise $100,000. Thus far, 521 donors have amassed nearly $35,000 to support Black families in the area.
