According to Deadline, Fast and Furious 9 is adding some new blood for the franchise’s next installment. Finn Cole, Anna Sawai, and Vinnie Bennett were added to the film’s call sheet this week in unspecified roles. Production on the film began last week in London.
Cole is best known for his roles on TNT’s Animal Kingdom and Netflix’s Peaky Blinders. Bennett starred in 2017’s Ghost in the Shell alongside Scarlett Johansson and then also had a part in Human Traces that same year. Sawai, a New Zealand native, last appeared in 2009’s Ninja Assassin.
Their roles are still being kept under wraps and there aren’t too many rumors hinting at what to expect there. I think they may be new recruits into ‘La Familia’ but, I’m also probably super wrong so. The Torretto family (extended or otherwise) will obviously be important in the ninth installment. According to a post on Vin Diesel’s Instagram last week, Jordana Brewster is making her return to the franchise as Mia, Diesel’s on-screen sister.
Fast and Furious 9 is set for release on May 22nd, 2020. The Fast and Furious spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw lands later this year on August 2nd.
