The Baltimore Ravens selected Notre Dame tackle Ronnie Stanley 6th overall to become the starting left tackle. That left incumbent tackle Eugene Monroe rather expendable. Ravens coach John Harbaugh did nothing but confirm the trade talks.
Coach Harbaugh speaks on Monroe’s absence: “It’s in Ozzie’s hands.” https://t.co/VsCEXHxPKQ

“As a coaching staff, we just kind of respond to what happens in terms of front-office type of situations, and my understanding right now is that teams are inquiring about Eugene,” Harbaugh said. “And when you’re in that kind of a situation, there’s possibilities of those kind of things happening, you’re pretty much obligated to pull back and not practice a guy. So that’s where it’s at right now, it’s in Ozzie’s hands, and we’ll see where it goes.”
When asked about what he expects from first round pick Ronnie Stanley, Harbaugh had this to say.
“He’s the sixth pick in the draft. I expect him to start.”
Monroe’s albatross of a contract makes this move rather prevalent. His $6.5 million base salary means if the Ravens do not find a trade partner they very well may just release him entirely. After starting only 6 games in a injury riddled season in 2015 I would expect anywhere from a 5th-7th round pick in return should they find a trade partner.
