Things just keep getting better for boxing fans. Last weekend, Gervonta “Tank” Davis put on a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This weekend, Devin Haney and George Kambosos will fight on ESPN in a premier slot. Now, there’s a promising update regarding a potential bout between Errol Spence Jr. and Terrence “Bud” Crawford. According to Sean Zittel of Fight Hype and Carson A. Merk of The Porter Way, negations for the undisputed welterweight title fight are going in a “good” direction.
“Well, someone asked [this question]. Is there any inside news on ‘Bud’ Crawford versus Spence negotiations?” Zittel repeated the question during a recent episode of The Porter Way.
“Uh, I’m hearing a lot of good things…in these boxing streets,” Zittel answered.
Merk also noted that Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza and unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. have indicated that negotiations are progressing nicely. Then, the duo offered a few more specific details.
“November. I’m hearing November,” Zittel said.
“November is what’s being aimed for,” Merk added.
“[It will be in] Las Vegas. That’s what we’re hearing,” The Porter Way co-host Anthony Brenagh concluded.
An official announcement has not been made yet, but this a promising sign. In the meantime, welterweight contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. will be back in action this summer and Conor Benn is still hunting for an opponent.
