E.J. Montgomery has committed to Kentucky making him the fourth five-star in this class. Montgomery is a top 20 recruit who was previously committed to Auburn before de-committing because of the FBI probe. Since his decommitment, he pulled in offers from North Carolina, Duke, and Kentucky with the latter two being the favorites. Montgomery is a 6’10 lefty with the ability to play inside and out who’s motor has greatly improved over the last year. Watching what some of Kentucky’s big men do declaring-wise will be interesting to watch. Kentucky could return virtually all of their frontcourt with only P.J Washington having declared.

Kentucky was already widely considered a top-five team going into next year but the addition of a talent like Montgomery should raise expectations. Kentucky won’t quite be as loaded as they were three years ago when they platooned but expect this to be their best team since that team. The mix of young exciting talent coming in combined with some of the experience they expect to return should make for a big year in Lexington.
