The Golden State Warriors are looking to repeat as NBA champions, but they may have to repair a few relationships internally before doing so. Hours after reports suggested that Draymond Green struck Jordan Poole during a team practice, video of the incident landed in the hands of TMZ.
The nearly one-minute clip begins as Poole and Green seemingly exchange words. As the verbal exchange continues, Green can be seen approaching Poole before making bumping into him. In response, Pool extends his arms and pushes Green away. From there, Green throws and lands a punch against Poole’s face. Poole appears to fall against the padding against the wall as their teammates rush in to break up the altercation.
Golden State Warriors General Myers General Manager has said that the team does not condone what has happened and plans to handle the matter internally.
“It’s unfortunate, I’m not going to deny it,” Myers told reporters, per ESPN.
“It’ll take some time to move through, but we’ll move through it and move forward. And I’m confident that we will. This isn’t our first thing that’s happened, first sense of adversity. We’ve been through some of this before. Don’t like going through it but it’s part of the NBA and it’s part of sports.”
Myers confirmed that Green apologized to Poole and the team earlier this week. However, neither player has addressed the matter publicly.
Following this incident, the Golden State Warriors will open the 2022 NBA preseason at home on October 9 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
