Drake and Kanye West have certainly had their differences in the past, but they have always had one thing in common. The two trailblazing acts have always loved embracing rising acts. Just a few hours ago, Kanye West debuted Donda in Atlanta and it included features from younger artists like Vory, Lil’ Baby and Playboi Carti. At midnight, Drake debuted a new track called “Over The Top” with Toronto’s own Smiley.
As always, Drake brings his A-game when sharing the track with rising acts. From the track’s opening moments, the GRAMMY winner takes control and doesn’t relinquish it. Delivering quotes that will most certainly be used as Instagram captions, the Toronto native reminds Smiley and any other artist that’s looking to take his spot that he’s not stopping anytime soon.
“I know I came with the slide from left to right/But now I don’t wanna dance/I got too much on the line, too much on my mind, too much ain’t enough for my plans/Nike don’t pay me to tell you just do it/They pay me to show you I’ll do it again,” Drake raps.
“Anyone else would retire but I’m not content/I wanna bury these niggas like twenty feet down/So no one can find them again/It’s gotta be scary to witness me carry these n*ggas around in both of my hands/They stay inviting me over, they say they got b*tches I get there and it’s just them.”
Drake is certainly in album mode and it shows. Check out his latest guest verse on “Over The Top.”
