Clemson Tigers junior quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has announced that he will transfer to the Oregon State Beavers. The former five-star recruit had likely lost his starting job for good against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2022 ACC Championship. Uiagalelei has struggled as the full-time starter with Clemson but was expected to get Power Five schools looking at him after he announced his intent to transfer. Oregon State is trending upward as a program and is hoping to capture some of the former five-star talent for themselves heading into the 2023 season.

In his three-year career with the Clemson Tigers, DJ Uiagalelei completed 515 passes for 5,681 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions on 860 attempts. He also rushed the ball 275 times for 913 yards and 15 touchdowns. It became clear that if he wanted to be a starting quarterback next season it would have to be with another program. Since he entered the transfer portal he will not be with the Celsmon Tigers when they play the Tennessee Volunteers on December 30th in the Capital One Orange Bowl.
Oregon State will likely start DJ Uiagalelei next season and the program hopes to continue to compete near the top of the PAC-12 with him under center. Perhaps with a change of scenery, he can recapture some of what made him a five-star quarterback coming out of high school.
