DJ Khaled and his music imprint, We The Best, have reportedly inked a deal with Def Jam. Under the newly enacted partnership, the Grammy Award winner will serve as the label’s Global Creative Consultant and release his new albums under the Universal Music Group umbrella.
“This new chapter marks a special time for me. The energy at this point in my career is at an all-time high and I’m grateful to Sir Lucian Grainge for allowing me to join his empire at this stage in my journey,” he said.
“Together, we will achieve even greater heights and take it to the next level. I feel blessed and so inspired with renewed energy. I’m excited to not only partner, but to come back home to Def Jam.”
DJ Khaled released his last album, God Did, through Epic Records by way of Sony Music Entertainment. The 18-track project secured a performance of “God Did” at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards earlier this month and earned a nod in the “Best Rap Album” category. Heading into the spring, the Florida-based DJ has eyes and ears set on the development of his next album.
“What I’ma do at Def Jam Records, not only am I gonna put the biggest hits out there, ’cause I’m in the studio right now working on a new album, and let me tell you, I work off of inspiration, I’m inspired,” he said about his next project, according to Rap-Up.
At this time, there is no solid release date, title or track list for the project, but it is something for fans to look forward to in the near future.
