DJ Khaled has delivered the first single from his forthcoming album, God Did. “Staying Alive” brings together one of music’s most prominent duos, Drake and Lil’ Baby. In the past, the duo has worked together on a number of tracks, including 2018’s “Yes, Indeed” and “Wants and Needs” from Scary Hours II. However, this track will hold a special place in their evolving working relationship as it is their first joint record to appear on a DJ Khaled album. Nevertheless, it arrives with the same level of anticipation as any of their previous releases.
“Staying Alive” is not the only highly-anticipated track that DJ Khaled has in his vault. Earlier this month, the Miami DJ and producer announced that Jay-Z would appear on his forthcoming studio effort. He did not go into detail as to what the track would be about or who else may appear on it, but he did praise Jay-Z’s undeniable talent.
“Hov did! Hov’s vocals [are] in,” DJ Khaled wrote on Instagram.
“Wow! [My] album [is] coming soon. ”
Jay-Z has built up a longstanding relationship with DJ Khaled over the years. Back in 2014, Jay-Z rapped alongside Meek Mill, Rick Ross and French Montana on “They Don’t Love You No More.” Two years later, Jay-Z appeared on “I Got The Keys” with Future. More recently, Jay-Z appeared on “Shining” and “Top Off” with his wife, Beyoncé. Not to mention, he appeared on “Sorry Not Sorry” with Nas from DJ Khaled’s last album, Khaled Khaled.
Complete with contributions from Jay-Z, Drake, Lil’ Baby and several other stars, God Did is set to drop on August 26. The road to the album begins tonight with the release of “Staying Alive” featuring Drake and Lil’ Baby.
