North Carolina’s own DEVN has been on a steady rise in the world of R&B over the last year. The North Carolina native offered vocals on Lute’s “Myself” from the Dreamville artist’s 2021 solo album, Gold Mouf. Shortly thereafter, rising star appeared at this year’s Dreamville Festival and set up an appearance at “Skinny Jay & Friends” in late August. Not to mention, he earned a co-sign from Apple Music’s Ebro Darden. Above all else, he took the next step in his solo career with the release of a new project called St. Luke St.
“St. Luke is the name of the street I grew up on. It’s where everything started. I learned so much growing up here. I recorded and produced my first song at a neighbor’s house, and met my first girlfriend across the street from my grandmother’s house, which gave me an idea of what love felt like. These experiences in life helped shape this project,” DEVN said about the inspiration behind his debut EP.
With a creative fusion of R&B, soul, Afrobeats and more, the North Carolina native was able to craft an undeniable body of work. Months later, he’s preparing to expand his initial offering from eight tracks to eleven with a deluxe release. Leading the way for its release next month, “Wild” arrives as the first single. The soothing soundscape coupled with the floating vocals compliments DEVN’s voice beautiful as he sings about a woman who caught his eye. Check out DEVN’s latest single below and prepare for the deluxe edition of St. Luke St. in September.
