The state of North Carolina is definitely an area to watch over the next year. Of course, the state is enjoying the success of DaBaby and J. Cole, but there are a ton of artists emerging in the Tar Heel State at the moment. Morray, Reuben Vincent, Toosii and Stunna 4 Vegas are just a few names to watch.
Recently, two North Carolina rising artists put their talents came together to put out a standout track called “Myself” produced by Trox. Leading the way, Dreamville’s Lute lets fans in on some of the troubles he’s dealing with. Joining him, DEVN delivered a soulful hook that echoed some of the same sentiments expressed by Lute.
“Way too much goin’ on, ‘Do Not Disturb’ on my phone/Where I lay my head don’t feel like home/And n*ggas wonder why I be in my zone,” DEVN sings.
After diving into some of those tougher times in life, DEVN is looking to relieve a bit of stress. His first solo music video, “Freak Freak,” is all about letting stress go and having a bit of a good time with another person.
“This is one of those songs where I’m just like ‘F’ love. Love ain’t working out, so I’m going to go try something else. What do you do when love fails? You start showing out, and get a ‘freak freak,'” he told Spit Fire Hip-Hop about his new record.
“Freak Freak” is definitely an anthem more than a few of us could use heading into the weekend. Check out the full video below.
