The New Saints are signing former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to a four-year deal once they are officially able to. Carr was released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in the offseason and met with several teams during the 2023 NFL Draft Combine. The Saints attempted to trade for Carr while he was still on the roster, but could not due to his no-trade clause. While the Saints will need to work out their cap space issues, this signing gives them a major upgrade at quarterback heading into next season.

Earlier in the 2023 NFL offseason Derek Carr took to social media and said the following: “I once said that if I’m not a Raider I would rather be at home and I meant that, but I never envisioned it ending this way. That fire burning inside of me to win a championship still rages. A fire no man can extinguish; only God. So I look forward to a new city and a new team who, no matter the circumstance, will get everything I have. Winning a championship is what I’ve always wanted and what I will continue to work towards.” Carr has chosen the Saints as his to compete for a Championship with.
