This is certainly a new face that we are seeing from the San Antonio Spurs with another All-Star trade. The team will send Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Danilo Gallinari, a 2023 first-round pick from the Charlotte Hornets, and the Hawks’ 2025 and 2027 first-round picks. In addition, they will receive a pick swap in 2026, according to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN.

Murray was drafted with the 29th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and has improved in every season until becoming an All-Star last season. He comes from his best statistical year with career-highs in every category with 21.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. He was also the season steals champion with 138 steals.
The Spurs now will keep building a young core for the future of the franchise and Murray will have a chance to compete in the playoffs.
Gallinari can also return to contention in the East as Mark Murphy and Jake Fischer reported interest from the Boston Celtics to sign him if the Spurs waived him.

With the move, Atlanta gets another ball-handler and creator to support Trae Young and give him more off-ball action. The Hawks finished ninth in the Eastern Conference and lost in the first round of the playoffs against the Miami Heat.
