Last weekend, the Def Pen team was happy to take you through the sites and sounds of the Sol Blume Festival in Sacramento, California. This weekend, our focus has shifted back towards the east coast for a major festival in the nation’s capital. Over at RFK Festival Grounds in Washington, D.C., Broccoli City Festival is preparing to return for its 10th festival and the lineup is fitting of a “Chocolate City” celebration. Led by DMV native’s like Masego, Wale, Rico Nasty, Ari Lennox and Alex Vaughn, the festival is ready to restore the feeling that has been missing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Washington, D.C. is an extremely diverse city that has a rich Nigerian community and this year’s lineup reflects just that. The lineup includes a number of Nigerian artists that have watched their music explode across the globe within the last few years such as Tems and Wizkid. Also, a number of DMV natives such as Wale, Ari Lennox, Rico Nasty, Alex Vaughn and Masego will also take the stage. Not to mention, stars such as Jeezy, 21 Savage, Gunna, Lil’ Durk and Summer Walker will also be in attendance. The 2022 Broccoli City Festival will be split up into two separate stages, the Everything Legendary Stage and Broccoli City Stage. Much like other festivals, rising acts like Alex Vaughn and Joyce Wrice will fill up the early slots while more veteran artists like Summer Walker and Wizkid take the later time slots.
