The Ravens are all over today’s headlines from cutting Elvis Dumervil and letting Brandon Williams walk to signing Tony Jefferson and re-signing Ryan Mallett. Ian Rapoport has been the man of the day reporting it first once again. Danny Woodhead will be heading to Baltimore, in one of the more surprising moves of the day.

If you did not remember, Woodhead badly tore his ACL last year, but Rapoport reassured the NFL world that he is healthy.
The odd part about the reported signing is that Woodhead seemed to fit like a glove in the Chargers offense. Danny had two great years when healthy in San Diego. In 2013, he caught 76 balls for 706 yards and rushed for 429 yards. In 2015, Danny had 80 receptions accumulating 755 yards and ran for 336 yards.
Woodhead brings an element to a team that quarterbacks love to have in the back of their mind- a sure-handed check down receiver. Phillip Rivers will miss Danny Woodhead as it seemed that he was a good compliment to Melvin Gordon. Now in Baltimore, Woodhead will be looking to help out Joe Flacco now as Kenneth Dixon will be working his way into the starting role.
Signing veteran running backs is somewhat of an oddity this year. This year’s draft is deep at running back so you would think to save some money, that if a team is looking for a 2nd or 3rd string back, they would be looking towards the draft, not free agency.
