The CW made more than a few fanbases happy this week. On Wednesday, the network announced the renewal of The 100, All-American, In the Dark, and Roswell, New Mexico. The 100 was renewed for a seventh season while the other series will return for their second.
Alongside the previously-renewed series, Legacies, and Charmed, the network has officially renewed every freshman series for the first time in its history. The sixth season of The 100 doesn’t air until next week either (April 30th), so higher-ups at The CW must have some incredible confidence in the series if it’s blindly being renewed.
Obviously, The CW isn’t anywhere near the heights of heavy-hitting networks like HBO and FX. But, between these series, Riverdale, and their DC Universe shows, the network is carving out a healthy niche for itself. Most every series at the network is winding down for the summer though so it’ll be sometime before we learn if the renewals were worth it when the series’ return in the fall.
