Griselda has yet to let up on releasing gritty projects. Today, Conway released his much anticipated EP, Lulu.
The EP is set to be a follow-up to his 2010 efforts, Look What I Became and Everybody Is F.O.O.D 3.
Produced by Griselda adopted producer, The Alchemist, the project is consistent with Griselda’s sound. Earlier this year, Alchemist teamed up with Boldy James and came out with The Price Of Tea In China.
The Buffalo rapper is the older brother of Westside Gunn and a key part of Griselda Records, the rap collective is currently resurrecting the sound of brick-to-the-face 90s East Coast street-rap.
Conway and Alchemist have worked together for years, but they’ve never come out with a full collaborative project before today.
The project is 7 tracks long, and includes features from Schoolboy Q on Shoot Sideways, and Cormega on They Got Sonny. LULU is a chance to hear the rapper get menacing, finding a different tone than the triumphal toughness that he usually brings. For the most part, Machine stays in his regular bag, comfort-wise. But he does find a new flows and approach, especially on the exceptional track “Calvin.”
