To conclude the 2019 award circuit, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) has announced the 2019 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award winners for this past season. In the American League (AL), it was Mike Trout who took home the honors for Los Angeles Angels. Over in the National League (NL), it was Cody Bellinger who swayed voters to become the 2019 honoree for the Lost Angeles Dodgers.

In the NL, it was Bellinger who stole the show and won the award after a long battle with Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich. The race between Yelich and Bellinger would have been much closer, providing that Yelich did not get injured as he did near the end of the season. Bellinger was still incredibly impressive for the Dodgers in 2019, managing a .305/.406/.629 with 47 home runs and 115 RBI. Bellinger takes home a Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, and Most Valuable Player Awards for his performance in the 2019 season. Just three seasons into his career, Bellinger has managed to win the Rookie of the Year award as well as the Most Valuable Player award.

In the AL, it was the generational talent himself, Trout, who took home the award for best performance. The twenty-eight-year-old has just won his third Most Valuable Player award in his career joining some elite company. Trout is one of only eleven players who have won the Most Valuable Player award for the third time in their careers. He is the first twenty-eight-year-old in Major League Baseball history. In 2019, Trout managed a .291/.438/.645 slash line with 45 home runs with 104 RBI for the Angels. Trout takes home the Most Valuable Player award as well as a Silver Slugger award on the 2019 seasons following the BBWAA award presentations.
With the BBWAA award circuit completed all the focus of the offseason turns to free agency. Free Agency is already underway and Will Smith kicked it off by being the first significant signing of the offseason after signing with the Braves. Fans can now gear up for an offseason featuring a few big-name free agents like World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg, Anthony Rendon, and Gerrit Cole.
